Senior PS3 Console Engineer - North UK - Salary £50-60,000

Roll Overview:

The Senior Engineer will drive the optimization of existing and future console technology for the console game platforms, and work to spread best-practice in programming throughout the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Design, implement and debug code
• Create and maintain documentation
• Work with other departments to understand and best implement features
• Work with other engineering groups to understand and best use technology
• Work with producers and quality assurance to achieve performance goals
• Provide technical expertise to develop games or technologies in support of games. This may include architecture, design, authoring, adapting, maintaining, profiling, debugging, documenting, prototyping, and support for entire games or major systems
• Reliably create good quality, performance-minded code
• Accurately estimate and plan own work
• Assist in the sharing of ideas and exploration of new practices to continually improve the quality of software development for the company
Required skills/background:
• 2+ shipped console titles
• Excellent C/C++ programming skills
• Multi-threaded programming experience
• Ability to work in a collaborative programming environment
• Good Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Solid understanding of coding processes, standards, methodologies and tools
• Highly motivated and able to work both with large groups and alone with minimal supervision
• Able to work and communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with technical and non-technical colleagues
• Ability to accurately estimate and plan own tasks, and to assist others in planning and estimating
• Ability to mentor less experienced programmers
• Strong problem solving skills
• Good understanding of 3D maths
• Passion for games and online gaming experiences
• Experience with Scrum and agile game development ( Is a plus )
