POSITION PROFILE AND REQUIREMENTS

Mission
The game executive’s mission is to direct and orchestrate a multi-disciplinary group of individuals into delivering an outstanding quality video game product on time and on budget, thereby achieving high client satisfaction (internal or external) in a profitable fashion. The GE has complete ownership of a product’s development cycle from conception to completion including technical, creative and financial responsibilities.


Roles and responsibilities
• Business development:
 Identify creative, technical and market opportunities for existing product line extensions and new products.
 Prepare project proposals for potential clients and partners as directed by the company president.
 Manage dealings and necessary follow ups with these potential partners.

• Customer service:
 Manage relationships with current clients, including ensuring good communications throughout development, understanding and managing expectations…
 Ensure agreements are respected and key milestones met.

• Team management:
 Build and mentor a high performance collaborative team of approximately 65 people, including a creative director, artistic director, programming director as well as game directors and their teams.
 Hire, train, supervise, motivate and mentor team members on an ongoing basis.
 Manage performance assessment, review systems and compensation for the team.
 Ensure the team understands and embraces corporate direction.

• Project management:
 Build a budget and a plan for each project that articulate return on investment.
 Give clear direction on projects under their supervision, and arbitrate conflicting views when necessary.
 Oversee development process to ensure that key project milestones are established, met and ideally surpassed.
 Ensure appropriate market testing is incorporated in the product development process.
 Ensure product branding is optimal to leverage market reaction and effectively position the product.
 Take final responsibility for the quality of the end product.
 Manage resource allocation in a profitable way.
 Act as spokesperson for the project to senior management, throughout the organization as well as externally as directed by senior management.

• Administrative responsibilities:
 Generally ensure a profitable operation delivering or surpassing established plans.
 Forecast and manage budget reports on a regular basis.
 Ensure follow up on client payments as per agreements.


Experience and professional expertise
5+years experience in the videogame industry as an executive.
Experience in managing a large creative/technical team
Solid client servicing experience of US or English Canada based client.
