Roll Overview:
(Lead Level Designer)

The lead world designer will oversee the design of all environmental content and ensure that it reflects the art style, the game vision and fully utilizes the games’ unique features.
You will be responsible for planning the game world’s design and coaching the members of your team while keeping them committed to the project. You will also take an important part on the definition of the production pipeline, identifying best practices and optimizing the productivity of your team. Finally you will be responsible for the quality of the game world.
The Lead World Designer should be setting examples of communication, initiative, teamwork, and productivity while working to improve the skill and knowledge of the animation team through direction, education, and mentoring.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Art Director and Creative Director to develop levels/environments that fit the projects style, using appropriate reference materials

• Responsible for the level of artistic and technical quality of the world, in accordance with the expectations of the Creative Director and the Producer

• Be part of the core team; work closely with the other core team members in order to share a common vision about the game personality

• Seeks out innovative ways to prototype gameplay ideas

• Work together with the design team to balance gameplay across the game world

• Manage the team of level/world designers: direction, education and mentoring

• Develop tools & refine pipelines for the world creation production process

• Mentor less experienced level/world designers

• Work with designers, programmers and audio to ensure the quality of the game world for all aspects of the project

• Create and maintain documents outlining game world needs

• Check assets for technical integrity before integrating them into the game.

Profile:

• A passion to create believable, interesting, funny and yet fantastic environments with the understanding that gameplay comes first

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as level designer

• Successfully shipped at least one AAA game, or demonstrable equivalent experience

• Strong level design skills is a MUST as you will be working close together with the team on the production pipeline.

• Ability to learn fast, take initiative with assigned tasks and follow through creative and technical troubleshooting.

• Strong communication skills

Qualifications:

• Must have solid understanding and demonstrated ability to work with Maya, 3DS Max, Unreal or other game authoring package.

• Scripting or programming experience preferred

• Experience managing junior level designers

• Must demonstrate initiative and strong problem-solving skills in regard to all types of rigging and animation techniques.

Sample Work Required:

Portfolio demonstrating proficiency and talent, previous work etc.
• Samples, demonstrations, or documentation of tools\pipelines developed to overcome previous challenges.

This is a permanent (full time) position and requires relocation to Malmö, Sweden.
