Senior Art Director
Experience: Senior Level (5 years+ and/or 2 AAA titles and/or 2 years experience in Sim-Racing)
Functions: Management, Art, Visual Design, Review, Support and Training
We are looking for an experienced and talented Senior Art Director.
Working in an agile environment, he will collaborate with the managers, the artists and the leads.
The successful candidate will supervise the art department of this leading-edge studio and establishes and supervises the direction and the creation of visual content in game software as well as within the marketing department.
He will train the new members of the art department.
One of his duty will be the implementation of new policies and procedures within the art department.
He will be able to communicate the vision for the overall visual flow and in doing so, he will be accountable for the quality of the art across all assigned projects in the studio.
Reporting to the Studio Manager and the Producer, the Senior Art Director works in partnership with the Lead Designer, the Creative Artist and the PR to manage the art vision and design of all studio projects, ensuring they are of the highest possible industry standards and beyond.
This is one the highest position in the studio infrastructure. Will have possibility to invest him/herself in the company decisions.
Job Description:
-Responsible for the artistic concept of game, as well as the look-and-feel of all art in game.
-Manages all the artists within the studio as the Lead Artist, Chief Coordinator and Designer, the creative game project from concept to completion.
-Designing the Art Bible.
-Participate to the branding image of the company, the advertising and the promotions; including interface design, typography and iconography.
-Create design consistency across multiple projects.
-Provide scope of work and timeline estimates to Project Managers for incoming projects.
-Official reviewer of the arts of a game project.
-Determine the technical and artistic challenges that must be met to achieve the art vision and ultimately ensure the vision is fully adhered to and realized.
-To ensure the morale and productivity of the art team remains high and help the art team members to resolve any problems.
-Utilize past experiences to develop a campaign vision and creative strategy that is unique, of high quality and suits the project.
-Actively participates in brainstorm sessions for the game project, as well as for the online advertising and web site development.
-Generates unexpected, original and innovative ideas.
-Running team meetings and ensuring good communication.
-Review/appraise staff and deal with general performance management of the team.
Required Skills:
-Bachelor's Degree in Arts History, Arts & Science, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Communication or Equivalence
OR
-Bachelor's Degree in Management with experience in equivalent position
-Expert-level skills in team management, at least 3 years demonstrated experience + 2 AAA titles as Art Director (or related)
-Minimum of 5 years experience in the gaming industry (and/or related field, and/or in Sim-Racing)
-A strong background in art design/2d and illustration, at least 5 years demonstrated experience with a portfolio
-Adobe Creative Suite 3 or 4 expert (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat Pro), at least 5 years demonstrated experience with a portfolio
-Experience with other Adobe's software (Flash, Dreamweaver and Photoshop Lightroom)
-Experience with Microsoft Office suite (at least Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
-Familiar with game development process and limitations
-Must have excellent understanding of the processes of concepts, design, modeling, texturing and animation in games (basic), preferably for multiple platforms
-Strong skills in illustration, drawing and photograph
-Strong
-Familiar with 3d modeling/rendering software such as 3ds Max or Maya
-Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast paced environment
-Strong artistic skills across a variety of art mediums
-Entrepreneurial; innovative, results-oriented and capable of being "hands-on"
-Excellent communicator
-Fluent in English and/or in French (more language a plus)
-Highly detail-oriented
-High standard of professionalism
-Knowledge of computer and operating systems (Windows, Mac and Linux) and skills across a variety of software programs and tools
-An ethos to "get things done"
-Delivery of milestones
Other skills:
-Video editing and Visual FX (Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro OR equivalent)
-MS Project, Visio and Publisher a plus
-Avid participation in one or more online communities is a strong indicator of success in this position, with bonus points for video game and/or sport car game and simulation communities
-Excellent technical understanding of art processes and cutting-edge techniques in all main art disciplines a must (including Animation, characters, environments, vehicles, visual effects, UI)
-Good knowledge of Level/Map Editor

Additional Information:
-Want to relocate in Canada, Quebec, Laval, Montreal or surroundings
-Open to travel between the studios (Canada, China, India, USA, Poland and/or UK)
-Applicants with recommendations or referrals are preferred
-Applicants with experience in racing and/or sim-racing are preferred
